    Christophe Girard is graduate from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon (INSA) with a degree in Material Science and a DEA in Materials for Semiconductor. From 1990 to 2002, he has been involved in microelectronic process integration at IBM, then Altis Semiconductor. Since 2002 he is Integration Manager of SOI Products Platform in SOITEC SA. Main task has been to introduce in high volume production new SOI processes from R&D and Development teams. Understanding customer needs is key to be able to ramp new products in production at the right time for the market. SOI is an added step in silicon/device food chain. Thus, SOI activity require to always align device makers and silicon suppliers roadmaps.

    The Master In Microelectronics is giving a very large scope on the semiconductor industry. Industry partners are involved as speakers which provides to this training a strong up to date experience.
    “SOI product and Applications” course is explaining SOI substrates properties and their interest for semiconductor applications. Process steps as well as SOI material properties are also covered.
    To my opinion, although the Master is a good training to start in the semiconductor industry, it has a better added value for people already working in this business for a couple of year.
